This is a RARE custom made R.H. Ruana knife and leather scabbard. Rudy Ruana began making custom knives in the 1930's. His business has been family owned from the beginning and is still in operation today in Bonner, Montana. Ruana knives are highly regarded and sought after by knife collectors and enthusiasts. This is one of only a relatively few custom knives made by Ruana. It is believed to have been made for Rudy's niece. The knife shows a hardened steel blade with a sweeping curve. The handle is aluminum and is inset with antler grips. The rear bolster features two bands on inlaid copper. The knife is not marked, but has been confirmed and is guaranteed to be Rudy's work made by his own hands. A truly RARE and important piece of Ruana knife making history. The knife comes with the original leather scabbard that is also not marked. This is certainly an early Ruana knife estimated to have been made circa 1950. The knife and scabbard are in good condition. The knife measures 9.75" with a 4.75" blade.
