SN 6565, recent Texas find with two page John Kopec letter. Revolver falls within several serial numbers of documented Battle of Big Horn revolvers including relic 6269 recently sold at auction for approx. 100K. Found at Sitting Bulls camp after the battle, revolver remains in very good condition with period refinish, alterations include shortening barrel to 5 5/8" not having been turned in for alteration to artillery. Mfg'd 1874, Ainsworth inspected, the serial number falls within lot 7 number 6517-7527. Serial number match on trigger guard, frame and back strap, no visible cartouche on walnut grips. Action good with good bore. Of further interest is the noted upside down U.S. stamping on frame. Antique. Est. 10000-12000
