Auction Date:2010 Apr 15 @ 11:00 (UTC-4 : AST/EDT)
Location:Crowne Plaza Hotel. 401 South Van Brunt St, Englewood, New Jersey, 07631, United States
Brisbane, Queensland. 188x. 1 Shilling. P-Unlisted. Specimen Postal Note Specimen printed on unissued note with serial number #126. Green on white face with text, title, counterfoil on left and "Half Penny" revenue fee stamp with portrait of Queen Victoria on upper right. Printed on watermarked paper. Text on front states "On Demand - The Postmaster General will pay Bearer One Shilling Sterling, Brisbane, Queensland, (and signed by Issuing Office)". Back has text in black "Telegram - This Postal Note will frank, both by wire and post,an Inland Telegram of TEN WORDS....If this note is used for a telegram....". Evidently this was an easy way to pay for a telegram if desired or it could be used to pay any other debt I assume and may even have circulated as currency since there is no place for a specific persons name. Purple diagonal "Specimen" overprint on middle. Uncirculated condition. Very early Australia Fiscal paper. Printer not listed. Rare and very attractive.
