The lot features a stone head war club, referred to regularly as a “skull cracker”, attributed to the Plains Native American Indians. The tomahawk war club shows a hand carved red catlinite pipestone head that measures 4.25” across. The head also shows a mottled section of pink and green catlinite showing through. The wood haft is covered in rawhide buckskin which appears to have an old red mineral ocher paint and long frilly fringe drop secured to the bottom end with brass tacks. The piece shows a total length of 24”.
