Period Engraved U.S. Colt Model 1911 Pistol with Raised Carved Ivory Eagle Grips, Holster, Pouch and
Produced in 1918 on Government contract, and later custom engraved and refurbished. Fixed sights, with gold paint on the front sight, two line, two block address with Rampant Colt on the left and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" on the right. No property or inspector marks remain on the frame, with "No" type serial number marking. Both slide and frame show extensive zig-zag scroll, floral and geometric patterns with textured backgrounds. Equipped with a long trigger, wide hammer with lightly engraved sides, long grip safety, extended thumb safety, Colt barrel, recoil buffer and engraved flat mainspring housing. Grips are attractively aged ivory, with raised carved designs of eagles in flight on each side. With a U.S. Enger-Kress marked brown leather shoulder holster with straps, 2 spare magazines and a May 1918 dated Mills magazine pouch.

Condition: Fine as custom embellished, with 95% of the polished blue finish, showing a gray patina on the grip safety, a small amount of rust under the thumb safety, and light scratches and handling marks overall. Grips are excellent, with fine carving detail and attractive color. Holster shows verdigris buildup and mild scuffing. Thumb safety is stiff, otherwise mechanically excellent.
