Extremely rare German World War 2 Anti tank rifle. Known as the PZB-39, this rifle is blued finish, wood stock with folding steel butt stock wrapped in leather, leather butt pad with bottom section folding as well. Handle rotates forward to open the vertical breech block mechanism. Barrel is an impressive 42" long with 6 riflings and a twist rate of approximately 1:16" held on with large barrel nut to the receiver and has a muzzle break.. Hooded front sight with shrouded "V" notch rear sight, folding swivel bi-pod and carry handle. Top of breech marked "Pz.B..39" over "6462" over "cpj" over "1941". Barrel marked "Pz.B.39/6462" on right side and left side marked "L.318/18380". Also on barrel numerous stampings including Nazi proofs. All numbers are matching with the exception of the front sight base. Most of these rifle were cut down and converted to GRB-39 "cup" style grenade launchers making this the rarest of all Anti-tank rifles known from World War 2. Only 5 of these rifles are known to exist at this time, 1 in the British Imperial Museum, 1 in The World War 2 Museum in Berlin, 1 in the Smithsonian Institute, 1 private party owned and this one. The only one that has been up for sale in recent history is at a price tag of $70,000. From the Sam Fowler Collection who considered this rifle the finest extant. Bore and action are very good. Includes period correct leather sling. This is considered a single shot rifle by BATF standards. Condition: Very good+ considered by experts to be one of the finest examples in the world.
