Pair of English saw-handle dueling pistols by H. Nock of London, cased with accessories. The pair have been converted from flintlock to percussion by a premier period gunsmith, possibly Nock himself. The pair measure approx. 14-1/2” overall with 8” barrels of approx. .58 caliber smoothbore. The pistols remain in fine to excellent condition with both pistols showing 90-95% tobacco brown finish with Damascus pattern barrels. The locks, hammers, and breeches show 60-80% original case hardening, just toning slightly with some very colorful and vibrant areas. The trigger guards show 50% thinning original blue. The stocks are very good plus to near fine with sharp checkering, some minor storage marks and very crisp edges and most of their original finish. The pistols show silver escutcheons and forend caps. One ramrod thimble is an old replacement. The pistols also show gold banding at the breeches, fine engraving, and high quality throughout. The pair retain correct to the period ramrods with brass heads and worms. The pair are contained within their original to the period green wooly felt or baize-lined partition style case. A flintlock era red-leather covered flask is included, which is in fair condition, as the covering has many losses, but is good overall other than the fragile leather covering. The case retains a two-piece cleaning rod, some extra heads, worm, ball puller, small parts, but no bullet mold present. The interior of the casing is very good with some slight fraying, minor losses, but generally very good overall. The exterior of the case is good to very good with the original hooks, keyplate, just small scratches, minor losses, and normal aging. Henry Nock was one of the premier British gunmakers in the late flintlock era and we would place the date of manufacture of this pair in the early 19th century and converted in the 1830’s or 50’s. A very nice set in near fine condition. Est: $7,000 - $14,000
