Cowboy gear from the grandson of Jack Hawes:
a) Pair of green child's boots with inlaid white longhorns. 7" long soles. Cloth pulls.
b) Nice pair of youth's batwing chaps. "BILLY" overlaid on each leg along with three slotted conchos. 28" long. Piece of the belt has broken off. Gifted to his grandson Billy Rose, the chaps are believed to have been custom made for little Billy by Harpham Bros. where grandpa Jack Hawes was employed.

Includes copy of signed letter from consignor attesting to the collection history and its acquisition.

Jack Hawes (1877-1950)
John H. Hawes was a travelling salesman out of Alliance, Nebraska. Employed first by Freemont Saddlery, which became Harpham Brothers Saddlery and Harness, Jack’s sales territory was comprised of historic cowboy and Indian areas, where he collected artifacts primarily between the 1890s and 1930s.
