Manufactured from 1873 to 1879 with this example being a Transition Model featuring a two piece buttstock exposing the magazine in the center and the buttplate is without a heel piece. This rifle is one of 1,050 Transition Model Sporting Rifles manufactured. The rifle has a 34 round capacity with a revolving type ejector port. The barrel has a pinched front sight and a ladder rear sight (missing elevator) with "EVANS REPEATING RIFLE MECHANIC FALLS, ME/PAT. DEC 8, 1868 & SEPT. 16, 1871" stamp on the flat ahead of the rear sight and the serial number "1826" stamped on the upper left flat at the breech. Mounted with a smooth forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock. The Evans rifle was one of the more novel repeating arms of the 19th century and had the largest capacity of any repeating rifle ever mass produced.

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish showing some thinning to a brown with some mild spotting. The lever retains areas of silvered out original case colors and the buttplate retains traces of original case color patterns. The lever latch is missing. The wood is also excellent showing some minor handling marks with most of the finish remaining. Mechanically excellent.
