A bronze medal honoring German flying ace Captain Oswald Boelcke, who was shot down and killed on October 28, 1916. Bronze, 89 mm, 208 gm. The front features a profile portrait of Captain Boelcke, and the reverse depicts a plane, a goddess, and an eagle, reading (translated), "Battle in the Air, XXXX," signifying his forty aerial victories. In fine condition.
