Osage Bird Knife, by John Nelson Cooper (1906-1987), 4'' upswept blade, 8-1/4'' overall, chocolate brown quilted micarta handle with double brass accents, rounded brass pommel, and brass halfguard. Left side of blade at ricasso marked with Cooper eagle logo, in original multi-pieced brown leather sheath. Original receipt calling this out as an ''Osage'' (New Updated Model), dated March 1974, is included from Cooper Knives, Burbank, CA, for shipment six months later. John Nelson Cooper mfg'd custom handmade knives from 1924 to 1981. He is known as the longest continuous maker of custom made knives in the U.S. Condition is excellent with just the slightest mellowing to brass accents and minor darkening from age to leather sheath, with some thinning to the brown tanning at retention strap. Very minor cut in forward edge of belt loop. Est.: $400-$600.
