(Warner Bros., 1949) Original title art for The Fountainhead by Chesley Bonestell, accomplished in tempera, graphite, airbrush on photo transfer applied to 30 in. x 40 in. artist’s illustration 8-ply board. Bonestell studied architecture at Columbia University and helped design the art deco façade of the Chrysler Building. When architectural work slowed during the Great Depression he moved to Hollywood where he worked uncredited as special effects artist and matte painter. The overlay featuring the book design is a reproduction added to round out the display. Slight soiling and bowing at corners. A wonderful association between Bonestell and Ayn Rand’s novel about individualistic architect, Howard Roark.
