This is an original three-piece cleaning rod for the famed U.S. issue .45-70 caliber Trapdoor Springfield Carbine. These rods were stored in the butt stock through a sliding trap in the butt plate. Almost always these seem to be missing and are hard to replace. Slotted end for cleaning the bore with the threaded end allowing attachment for a “stuck case” remover. This is an essential Indian Wars accouterment. Nice aged appearance. When unscrewed, and grouped, the rods measure 8 3/8" long. When assembled, the rod measures 24 1/4" long.
