In addition to the artist lifestyle, she was a rancher and outfitter in the Jim Bridger Wilderness of the Wind River Mountains. As an artist, she was Emeritus Member of Women Artists of the West, Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies, Cody Country Art League, Wyoming Artists Association, and the Mixed Media of Sublette County. The painting shows a group of three Native American Indians encountering a lone mountain man. The scene is set in a gorgeous mountain valley. The painting shows life-like detail in the characters and their equestrian companions. The painting is signed on the bottom left hand corner: "L. Thomas - 77". The painting is mounted inside of a gorgeous frame. The frame measures 37 1/4" wide, and 31 1/2" tall.
