Hungarian-born American photographer and Olympic fencer (1892–1965), who was a celebrated portrait photographer, with his work gracing the pages of Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Ladies' Home Journal, and The New York Times. TLS signed “Nick,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Nickolas Muray Inc. Photography letterhead, May 1, 1933. Letter to radio broadcast pioneer Carl Haverlin, in part: "I have waited this long without hearing a word from you about what has happened with the color prints; you also promised you were going to send me a complete list of the prints you have. I appreciate the usual lack of speed in California, but somehow I don't want to associate it with you for I think you are an exception when it comes to putting things in motion. You can take that all three ways…I have been working hard on the Coca Cola stuff since I came back. Have heard nothing from Lord & Thomas Sunkist jobs which they promised to transmit to me through their New York office. But that does not surprise me at all. I enjoyed very much meeting your altruistic friends who encouraged me in the belief that there are still a few people left in the world appreciating and doing things for art's sake. How do you fare with Pogany? I hope they will be able, with your help, to put something over the gas stove and be able to pay both the grocery and the gas bill. Arthur Kales is in Washington, and it seems that things are beginning to come to life in his efforts of doing some business." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
