Miquelet full stocked rifle, circa 1780, .70 cal., 35” barrel, fancy raised carved stock. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing an even light brown patina on metal surfaces with some small areas of erosion and pitting, primarily around the touch hole on the barrel. There are maker marks on the trigger guard and lock plate that read “OI COE CIEA”; the lock plate is also marked “Hermva”. The action is functioning at time of description; the breech of the barrel shows several proof marks; there are two delicate iron barrel bands and tasteful chiseling of the metal of the barrel at the intersection of the octagon-to-round portions; the wood is in overall good to very good condition showing raised carvings at the under stock where the wood ramrod enters and at the top of the wrist and back of the lock plate. A very nice Miquelet with a fine lock and beautiful features. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
