The top strap is marked "HUGHES'S IMPROVED/SELF EXTRACTING/REVOLVER No. 8017". The frame, barrel lug, trigger guard, and grip straps feature a scroll engraving. British proofs are present and "R.H." is stamped on the frame and barrel. An engraved band is featured at the muzzle and around the cylinder at the front. The cylinder is marked "380" and the butt is stamped "W68". Complete with a wooden partitioned case lined with blue felt, cartridge block, oiler, and brass cleaning rod with ivory knob. The case has a matching paper Robert Hughes Universal Fire Arms Works label on the inside of the lid.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish (mostly on the barrel) with the balance a mottled gray patina. The grips are very fine with a few very minor blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is also fine with some separation at the joints, a number of minor handling marks, and the lining showing some wear.
