(Walt Disney, 1951) Original color styling/concept painting featuring Alice fleeing the Queen’s guards accomplished in tempera on 7 ½ in. x 8 ½ in. board by color and styling designer, Mary Blair. When Walt Disney conceived of making its psychedelic masterpiece, it asked master illustrator Mary Blair to draw up a series of concept sketches for the art direction of the film. Blair had previously worked on a series of shorts in the 1940s and the feature Cinderella. She continued to do color styling and concept work for Peter Pan, as well as design work on the “It’s a Small World” World’s Fair Exhibit and Ride. An exceptionally vivid and faithful portrayal of this iconic scene from the film. Fine; with pin holes at corners.
