NOV. 5, 1861.", the matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the bottom barrel flat under the forearm. The barrel is equipped with an adjustable front globe sight, with no provisions for a rear sight and has a tang mounted vernier peep sight. The top barrel flat at the breech is marked "38-55". Adjustable double set triggers, blue barrel with casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and Swiss style buttplate.
BBL: 30 inch octagon

The receiver retains 75% original case colors with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. The lever has a smooth mottled brown and gray patina, and the buttplate has a dark brown patina. The wood is very fine with scattered minor dings, scratches and very crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
