Brass Cannon-Barreled Naval Boarding Blunderbuss, by Manton, barrel marked ''Manchester'', NSNV, approx. .70 cal. flaring out to 1-1/2'', 14'' brass part-octagon part-round flared muzzle barrel, brass furniture, and rosewood stock; iron lock and hammer marked with maker's name. 12'' triangular bladed spring-loaded bayonet is missing spring. Condition is good to very good showing moderate patina to iron parts, including some frosting around percussion nipple, which partially obscures maker's name. Brass with mellow toning. Rosewood stock with moderate scuffs and flattening to checks. Left side of wooden forend with cracks, glue, and nail repairs. Est.: $1,500-$2,000.
