Early A.A, Forbes photo postcard. Named after W.J. Lundy who operated a sawmill near the Lake. A major producer of lumber for the nearby town of Bodie, Lundy also had a mining camp in 1879. The post office ran from 1880-1914. A new dam raised Lundy Lake and part of the site of the community is now submerged.

One section of Lundy Lake is called Stagecoach Corner where a stagecoach missed the sharp turn and ended up in the lake. Years later scuba divers confirmed the story by finding the submerged stage preserved by the icy cold water.
