A) Produced mainly in Belgium, the term "Brevete" can be applied to any revolver made under license by Colt using one or more of their patents in Europe. Top barrel flat of this revolver is marked "COLT / BREVETE". The cylinder features a roll engraving picturing a man on a horse and running, hunting dogs chasing a deer in a field scene and engraved with a flower between each nipple recess. There is a small Belgian "crown / R" proofmark on the left side of the barrel above the wedge, a large "R21" above and ahead of the wedge and "1240" vertically at the breech, with the bottom of the lug marked "1000" and the frame is marked with a small "C.BTE". Brass post front and notched rear sight attached to the hammer nose. Silver plated square back trigger guard and back strap, with a one piece walnut grip.

Condition: Very good plus. The revolver has a smooth mottled gray patina. The back strap retains 90% of the original silver plating, silvered out on the butt, with the trigger guard and front strap being a mix of original silver, exposed brass and silvered out finish. The grip is fine with some minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. The action is fine. Previously from the William Hoffeld collection.

B) Top barrel flat marked "COLT / BREVETE" with a Liege "ELG" proof on the cylinder, "7" on the cylinder face, and single illegible proofs on the left barrel lug and rear of cylinder. Matching numbers on the barrel, frame and trigger guard. Silver plated square back brass trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a nicely figured varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Good. The revolver has a mottled gray patina with some very light pin point pitting. The re-varnished grip is very good with some minor handling marks. The smooth aged bras retains traces of the original silver plating in the protected areas. The action is fine. Previously from the William Hoffeld collection.
