Though no record of this magazine exists today, it’s no stretch of the imagination to place it amongst the numerous “little magazines” that dotted the Chicago literary landscape in the late-19th/early-20th centuries. And it must have been far and away the girliest of them all. And while Rubin’s work featuring “The Bicycle Girl and Her Costume” isn’t the most obvious indicator of this, B. Martin Justice’s firecracker flincher and an anonymous gazette maelstrom (neither shown) reveal that “The Daintiest of the Magazines” was chock full of “Fiction, Fashion, Fabrics, Dress and Decoration.”
