These three posters, published by the Philadelphia Carpet and Upholstery Trade organization–one for the Victoria Mills, one for Hartshorn’s roller shades and an unillustrated design for Balbon’s Linoleum and Oil Cloth–don’t hold anything back on the self-aggrandizing front. But what would advertising be without well-placed overstatement! Two of the posters take a classical approach befitting their boasts, while the third takes to the track in an appropriate manner for the fast-paced world of linoleum cloth. The one unifying factor–the slogan printed at each poster’s bottom, urging the retailer to "Please tear this poster out and hang it on the wall or in your show-window.”
