Large portrait of early Deadwoodelite Victoria Ann Wilson form the historic Victorian House of Roses. Home was built in Deadwood in 1870-1880's by attorney James Wilson for his bride Victoria Ann. Upon arriving in the Deadwood camp she was quotedas saying "thank god for the roses" which grew on the hill next to the home. The 27 room mansion was decorated in rose pattern wall paper and filled with the finest furnishings and decor, featured a largeballroom and outdoor rose gardens. The portrait was purchased by consignor many years ago at the home contents onsite auction. Portrait mounted in its original spectacular gesso frame, high relief roseborder around perimeter, fine condition with exception of loss at upper corner of frame, 3 7.25 X 43". Est. 1250-2500
