This lot gives you the opportunity to bid on this lovely dark brown fur mink coat. The coat has a Tag inside that identifies the coat as coming from H. Willard, Son & Co. in Marshalltown, IA. Willard's was founded in Marshalltown by Hiram Willard in 1864. As an interesting aside, Hiram Willard had been a partner with U.S. Grant in Grant's father's Galena, IL tanning business just prior to moving to Marshalltown. Willard's is still in business in Marshalltown and is run by a descendant of Hiram. This coat is a rich brown with applied darker striping; the satin lining is also brown with a large leaf motif throughout. The coat was designed to also be worn shawl style, as it has two shoulder straps inside in addition to the sleeves. The three quarter length coat uses a simple latch and hook closure system, plus a large button up at the collar; it also has two waist pockets. The fur itself is relatively short in length and believed to be mink. The coat is in very good condition with only a small tear under the collar, at the shoulder seam. There is no size indication, but the measurements are as follows: 15" at the shoulder; 26.5" sleeve; 41.5" overall length; 37" at the bust; and 55" at the bottom hem.
