This is an excellent period Kiowa Native American Indian Bow & Arrow with quiver from the 19th century. The lot features an exceptional Kiowa original mid to late 19th century Indian tanned hide bow and arrow quiver with long fringe and showing red trade cloth accents with wonderful early glass trade seed beads in chalk white, greasy yellow, red white hearts, red, semi-transparent green, and sky blue with a fancy beaded edge throughout. Also, included in the lot is the original Kiowa carved hardwood bow with sinew parfleche wrappings and red ocher mineral wash, three original Kiowa arrows with hardwood shaft with forged iron arrowhead points having sinew wrappings with blue mineral painted accents on the front and red ocher mineral painted accents on the reverse (the arrows also show two sets of four spots per arrow in red ocher mineral paint). The arrows also have the original feather fletching with sinew wrappings and intact nock. Provenance: From a large Native American Indian Collection in France and acquired from the Kiowa in Oklahoma or Texas early 1900. Sold previously at the Binoche Auction of Early American Indian Art 4/24/2010. Truly an excellent original authentic Kiowa Museum quality piece. Bow is 36.5”L. Arrows are approx. 26”L. Quiver is 30.5”W x 29”H with strap as shown.
