[Kennedy, John F.] Wisconsin Flag From 1960 Democratic Convention. This flag was flown over the inside rim of the Sports Arena during the 1960 Democractic convention in the Los Angeles Sports Arena where John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson were nominated. It was the first convention to be held with 50 stars in the U.S. flag, Hawaii and Alaska having been admitted as states in 1959. The consignor was President of the Student Body at the University of Southern California at the time. He was asked to select 300 young men and women from Los Angeles area college campuses who would drive the dignitaries, including Eleanor Roosevelt and Speaker of the House, Sam Rayburn, around the city in 300 new white General Motors cars. This flag was obtained on the last day of the Convention. It measures 4 ft. 2 in. x 5 ft. 4" and is in fine condition, the outer border being toned. Accompanied by a copy of a sworn affidavit by the consignor.
