Hall of Fame athletes are consistent. They don't get spooked by pressure situations. They play the game at an elevated level no matter the circumstances. And they are equally outstanding on the road as they are in front of their home crowd. Throughout his 20-year career, Joe Sakic was the model of consistent excellence. He was the face of the franchise in Quebec and made that seamless transition as team captain when the club moved to Colorado in 1995. In his career, he played in 702 games on home ice and 26 fewer games on the road. He averaged 0.467 goals per game at home and 0.439 on the road. He scored 100 power-play goals at home, 105 on the road. The captain scored 16 short-handed goals at home and an equal amount on the road. He was a picture of consistency. Sakic has signed this limited edition (25) Captain Avalanche Shadow Box in black paint pen. The outer acrylic layer features an image of Sakic in a burgundy home jersey while the second layer shows the captain controlling the puck down the ice in a white away jersey. Also on this second acrylic layer is Sakic's authentic autograph. The third acrylic layer features Sakic's shadow and the ice rink. The three layers are encased in a 20.5" x 2.5" x 16.5" black metal frame for a true 3-D effect. The unique three-layer piece is designed in the same fashion as the Shadow Box trading cards first seen in Upper Deck SPx Football in 2009. His signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated's Five Step Process.
