In full: “The entire Carter family is deeply touched by your expression of sympathy. We shall miss Ruth very much, but we are comforted by our faith and your love.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition. Stapleton died of pancreatic cancer in 1983, a disease which also claimed the lives of Carter’s other sister as well as brother Billy.
