ALS, one page, 8 x 9.75, March 25, 1829. Letter to Secretary of the Treasury Samuel D. Ingham, written from "Oak Hill," in part: "Major Noland a near neighbour and friend, having requested an introduction to you, I most readily give it, to comply with his desire, & at the same time to assure you of the interest, I take, in your health and welfare. I have been more than three weeks confined to my room, & until lately to my bed, by a severe cold and fever, from which I am slowly recovering." Addressed on the integral address leaf in Monroe's hand to "Samuel D. Ingham Esquire, Washington." In fine condition, with short splits along folds.
