This coin represents one of the Five Elements, also known as the Five Rotations, five natural elements found within the natural world. The elements are Wood, Fire, Water, Metal, and Earth. It is part of a Five Elements (Gogyo-sen) series cast Manji 2 (1659) in Nagasaki said to wish good luck to Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong), the Chinese Ming loyalist, when he went to Taiwan.
