Included for your consideration in this lot is an expertly cast bronze sculpture of a Great American Bison, or Buffalo, titled "Stand Off", and crafted by James R. Meredith out of Livingston, Montana. The sculpture shows excellent craftsmanship in proportioning, and definition. The piece sits upon a gorgeous hard wood base. The piece is marked in multiple places, reading; "Stand Off - By J. R. Meredith" on a plaque, on the front of the base, "J. Meredith 89 - 11/50" on the base of the sculpture, and "James R. Meredith - Livingston, Montana - 1998" on the bottom of the wood base. Jim was born and raised in Eastern Montana along the Yellowstone River. As a young man, he and his wife, Mary Jo, moved up river to Livingston, Montana. There, he worked as a machinist in the railroad shops until they closed in the late 1980's. Then he turned to wood carving and bronze sculpture to support his family. Over the years, he has produced hundreds of wildlife sculptures using knives and chisels to carve hardwoods into figures with motion. Jim became a member of the Western Heritage Artists, who exhibits an annual show in Great Falls, Montana - There he has taken home multiple first place ribbons for his exceptional works. Overall, the sculpture shows very-good condition. The sculpture measures 8" tall, 9 7/8" wide, and 5 1/2" deep.
