J & J Miller Revolving Pill Lock Rifle
Made circa 1835-1850, at least 15 gunsmiths made the revolving rifle under the Miller patent and it's estimated that only a few hundred were produced. Pinched blade front and notch rear sights, with the two line "J&J MILLER / ROCHESTER NY" address on the upper flat. Lightly serrated cylinder, with scroll engraving on the tang, trigger guard, hammer and lock plate, the latter also showing a federal shield and an array of flags. Straight grip stock, with pewter forearm tip, German silver wedge escutcheons, brass tipped ramrod, and smooth buttplate with engraved heel.

Condition: Fine, with most of the original mottled brown finish on the barrel and a smooth dark patina on the remainder. Minor pitting is visible on the cylinder. Wood is good, with over 50% of the original varnish, with a dented left escutcheon, scattered minor dings, nicks and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
