Silver finished brass blade front sight and dovetailed notch rear, with "B.F.K." on the top flat of the barrel, a drum-style bolster, and a lightly scroll engraved hammer and lock, the latter marked "JOSEPH/GOLCHER" ahead of the hammer and equipped with double set triggers. Smooth, brass tipped full length stock, with a hardwood ramrod, handrest trigger guard, teardrop-shaped German silver wrist accent panels, raised cheekpiece with eagle-engraved German silver plate, spring loaded engraved patch box lid and a curved brass buttplate. Notes from the consignor identify the maker as B.F. Keough, a Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania gunsmith, with this arm dated to 1840-1850.
