I thank you for the flowers and the telegrams you sent and I send you my warmest congratulations for your Oscar. I’m still waiting for ‘Small Woman.’ I hope you won’t delay it, as there is much pressure on me to get something settled for the fall. I’m also waiting to hear what you have decided about ‘Kristin,’ who is the apple of my eye. With my thanks for all you have done and for your faithful friendship.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a Western Union Telegram directed to Adler from Bergman, in full: “Hurra I live in a dream, Ingrid.” The 29th Academy Awards proved momentous for both Bergman and Adler; the actress earned her second Oscar for her comeback role as Anna Koreff in the 1956 film Anastasia, which Adler produced; Adler was awarded with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Oscar that same night.
