Important and rare original push-dagger by Will & Finck of San Francisco, California, pictured on the cover of Knifemakers of San Francisco by Bernie Levine, 1977 edition and prominently featured throughout this text and other publications. This sensational push dagger is considered the best known example of this style knife extant. The knife in original near mint condition with original polish, full dimensions, and original and marked scabbard, and fine original walrus ivory grip. The knife measures 6-3/16” from tip to end overall with 3”1/8” blade. The grip is of large purportions and sculptured with no cracks or damage, just slight natural aging and patina. The original scabbard is of German silver and shows ball finial with loop and marked “Spring Loaded Release”, “Will and Finck”, and “Patented”. Release has a catch into the blade in order to hang upside-down under the armpit for concealment. One of the crown jewels of the Hayes collection. Est: $25,000 - $50,000
