Six-shot fluted barrel cluster marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK" on a flute and "PATENTED APRIL 16, 1845." on another flute. The left side of the hammer is marked "ALLEN'S PATENT / 1845". All matching numbers. The recoil shield has a floral engraving. The following accessories are included: two cavity bullet mold, ramrod, and powder flask. Also included in this lot is a large grouping of items from the descendants of Dr. Daniel Levy Maduro Peixotto (the elder), specifically his son, Moses L.M., Captain of Company G of the 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry and officer in the 7th Regiment Infantry Brigade of the New York Militia, Moses's son Daniel L.M. (the younger), also with the New York 7th Regiment, later Major of the 3rd Regiment, U.S. Volunteers and at the time of his death in 1898 was the Governor and Provost Marshal of Guantanamo, and another grandson of Dr. Peixotto, Captain Ernest Clifford Peixotto, who as director of the Section of Painting of the Corps of Engineering served as one of the eight official artists of the American Expeditionary Force, and later was the chairperson of the American Committee of the Ecoler des Beaux-Arts in France and Knight of the Legion of Honor. (1) elaborate presentation Horstmann Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword, with etched Clauberg blade, gilt guard, engraved silver grip and fishskin scabbard with the inscription "PRESENTED TO/ Captain M.L.M. PEIXOTTO/ by/ a few of his friends/ New York, Aug. 1862 ". (2) regulation Model 1872 Officer's Saber, (3) presentation ebony cane with gold plated head engraved: "Presented by/ N.Y. Census Force/ July 15 '90/ CAPT./ D.L.M. Peixotto, (4) white buff militia bayonet sling with two-piece brass "7" plate and Model 1873 Bayonet marked: "Dan Peixotto Co. B" on the back of the sling, (5) cased mementos that include gold-plated engraved cartridge fired at President Grant's funeral, officer's M1851 Eagle belt Plate, piece of wood from San Juan Hill Cuba and two militia/national guard service medals, (6) cased Spanish American War era insignia that contains three 1st Lieutenant's and one Captain's infantry shoulder boards, seven infantry crossed rifles collar insignia, brass stencil of "M.L.M. Peixotto/CO.G 103RD Reg. N.Y.I.", infantry eagle buttons and other insignia items, (7) small case of mixed Army officer's buttons and insignia items, (8) case of five ribbons from Civil War reunions, "Inauguration Ball, March 4th 1881 and a newspaper obituary, (9) Captain's Promotion Certificate for Daniel L. M. Peixotto dated October 3, 1898, (10) Commission of Daniel L.M. Peixotto in the U.S. 3rd Volunteer Infantry Regiment dated January 18, 1898, (11) Certificate designating Capt. D.L.M. Peixotto as "Aide-de-Camp of the First Division, Third Brigade in the inaugural Parade for President Benjamin Harrison, (12) certificate designating Major D.L.M. Peixotto" as "Aide" in the Inaugural Parade for President William McKinley, (13) framed promotion certificate for 1st Lieutenant D.L.M/ Peixotto in the 3rd Volunteer Infantry Regiment, (14) Appointment certificate for Daniel L.M. Peixotto as "Captain and Aide-de-Camp" in "the Militia of the District of Columbia" dated August 15, 1888 and (15) two framed prints of WWI landscapes painted by Ernest Clifford Peixotto (1869-1940). (16) Additional documents related to Daniel Peixotto, including a photocopy of his death notice in the 7th Regiment Gazette, Captains commission papers from the First Regiment and 3rd Volunteer Infantry, geneology research, honorable discharge papers from the 7th Regiment (issued retroactively after his death), and a series of National Archives documents related to Ida Peixotto, Daniel's widow, and her efforts to secure and later increase a pension. This is an interesting group of material from the Peixotto family that spans nearly sixty years, three wars and includes material from Presidents Grant, Harrison, Mckinley and Roosevelt.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel cluster retains 80% thinned original blue finish with some minor dings near the breech. The remaining metal surfaces retain 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. Missing a recoil screw and the hammer spring tension screw. There is a gouge on the left grip panel, otherwise the grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining. The case is good with a few repairs, a couple of missing partitions, a crack on the lid, and worn lining. The Civil War M1850 Foot Officer's Sword is in very good condition; the blade is in excellent condition, the hilt shows moderate wear and retains about 20% of the gold-plated finish. The scabbard is in very good condition; the drag and suspension bands have most of the brown finish and the fish skin cover is worn but completely intact. The M1872 Officers Saber is in very good overall condition; the blade is excellent, the hilt has about 50% of the gold plated finish, all of the fish skin and wire wrap on the grip is intact and the scabbard is in good overall condition with about 50% of the nickel-plated finish and scattered rust spots. The presentation cane is in very good condition with moderate handling wear. The bayonet and accessories are in good overall condition.
