High quality and classic flintlock dueling pistol by Wogdon of London. .54 caliber smooth bore, 10” medium weight barrel, 15-1/2” overall, full stocked to the muzzle. Silver mounted with checkered butt. Unusualsilver buttcap showing Brittania seated surrounded by Rococo scrolls. The triggerguard escutcheons and ramrod pipes are all silver. The barrel shows traces of its original finish with Wogdon signature andLondon on the barrel. The metal surfaces are in good condition and the pistol shows a platinum blow-out plug. The top jaw and screw are excellent replacements and the pistol is in its original flintlock state. The stockis very good with crisp checkering, some minor dings, mars, scratches. The engraving on the lockplate is slightly rubbed but good and visible with a clear Wogdon signature. There is a silver plaque inlaid in the wristarea showing an English style crest which is possibly researchable. Silver mounted Wogdons of this period are extremely rare and in 40 years of selling fine European arms of this type and looking for them, we have seen two
