Exceedingly Rare Haviland & Gunn New Improved Model 1880 Airgun, #79, .22 cal., browned finish, walnut stock, brass crescent buttplate and pellet trap, as mfg'd in Ilion, NY. This is the earliest production airgun mfg'd in the U.S., with patent date April 18, 1871. Condition is very good with overall gray/brown patina. Most screw slots are straight and true. Brass front sight with sharp edges. Stock with small loss at center of buttplate on right side. Action remains crisp. A key American air rifle for the advanced collector. Est.: $2,500-$3,500.
