Hammond Bulldog, .44 Henry Rimfire caliber, single-shot pistol, rare line-throwing variation, grey patina finish, checkered wood grips, in hand-made old period wood case with original label in lid and line-carryingprojectile. Serial #419 under the grip. The original directions have been glued into the top of the period old box and show a man shooting such a pistol holding the line with very thorough directions. The directions arein fair to good condition with good illustration. The areas that have been lost have carefully been retyped on small slips of paper and carefully replaced during period of use. The The pistol shows a grey patinafinish, scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, the grips are good with some even wear. The case shows dovetailed corners and is hand-0made with provisions for blanks and the exterior shows a brass hand-made handlewith latches and the numbers “17T” painted on it, also stamped in the top left corner. Only five such line-throwing guns are known to advanced collectors – this is the only one cased with directions. Est: $2,750 - $5,500
