Cartoonist (1900–1955) best known as the creator of the durable strip Joe Palooka. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Joe Palooka letterhead, August 2, 1950. Letter of thanks while recovering from an illness. In part: “I am out of the hospital and convalescing in great shape. They say I’m as healthy as a bull. I’ve got to answer over two thousand letters from pals who heard Winchell’s broadcast, so forgive the brevity.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, one through a single letter of signature, and a few corner creases. RRAuction COA.
