Gold Banded Henry Deringer Philadelphia Pocket Pistol Marked Hyde & Goodrich of New Orleans
James N. Hyde and Charles W. Goodrich are first listed as arms merchants circa 1833, and the firm would survive them, producing cavalry sabers and pikes for the Confederates up until the city's capture. Fixed sights, with "DERINGER/ PHILADEL'A" stamped on the barrel next to "MANUD FOR/ HYDE & GOODRICH/ AGENTS N. ORLEANS", with a pair of 18k gold bands on the breech. Deringer's address is repeated on the lock plate, with engraving on the lock, hammer, tang and the combination silver and German silver furniture. Full length, attractively tiger striped stock, with a brass headed ebony ramrod and a checkered birds head grip with capbox.

Very fine, with the original streaked pattern visible on the barrel, strongest on the sides, and a gray patina forming on the remainder. A mixed patina is visible on the casehardened parts, with traces of the original pattern. Stock is good as repaired, with a crack running from the left breech to the underside of the lock, loose escutcheons, a dark patina forming on the furniture, scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically very good.
