German Military Cavalry Saddle Model 25 (Armeesattel 25), dated 1940, with Waffenamt stamp, (an Eagle Symbol with Swastika, the German Army Proof Mark and inspection code of the Third Reich) found impressed on the back of the seat, stirrups and stirrup straps. Also included is the rarely found original “sattelgurt” or saddle girth, of woven cloth rope and original pad. Stamped Waffenamt impression and numeral “1”, noting saddlesize, on left side of cantle; “1” and “emr 41” on right side of cantle, as well as bottom of stirrups accompanied by the date “1940”. This multi-piece, mid-brown leather saddle is constructed with wood, steel,catgut and canvas fittings with internal ersatz padding. Although highly mobilized for its time, the Ge4rman army still utilized a great number of horses throughout WWII. This example is in very fine condition overall.Considered to be one of the best riddling saddles for both horse and rider, this saddle is highly sought after by both collectors and riders.
