TLS, one page, 8 x 10, A. I. R. Record Productions letterhead, August 7, 1968. Letter to Marty Horstman, in part: “I have now had an opportunity of hearing your disc of Griff Blazey. I think he has a very pleasant voice and I would like to hear him in the Studio. The only problem is that at the moment I am working on a new Beatles’ L. P. and this gives me no time for other work. I am going on holiday in September but will have time at the beginning of October to hear Griff Blazey. I am sorry for the delay and of course I will quite understand if you have had any alternative offers. However, if you would like to contact me the first week of October I would be delighted to arrange to hear your artist in our Studios.” In very good condition, with several folds, creasing, paperclip marks and tear to middle right edge. After auditioning at Abbey Roads for Wally Ridley, David Griffith, or Griff Blazey, returned to the London studios and auditioned for George Martin, who provided some piano playing during the audition. Ultimately, Blazey’s country music singing style was not conducive to the acts Martin was currently promoting. Pre-certified REAL.
