ALS, one page both sides, 6.25 x 4.25, personal letterhead, January 24, 1998. Letter to historian Herbert Parmet concerning his recent biography George Bush: The Life of a Lone Star Yankee, the first full-scale biography of Bush to be released. In part: "I'm glad the book is doing well. I hated the NYT book review, horrible! But the W. Post was not bad. I of course would be glad to 'talk again' some time." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Parmet was given access to Bush's personal diaries and letters while writing the biography. The New York Times was critical of the book, publishing a review on December 14, 1997, entitled 'Self-Remade Man: A biography of George Bush raises the question of whether he had convictions or only interests'; meanwhile, the Washington Post apparently looked upon it more favorably.
