GUPTA: Samudragupta, ca. 344-378, AV dinar (7.55g), Mitch-4773/80, king standing, sacrificing over altar, holding long scepter, with Garuda standard to left // Lakshmi facing, enthroned, Brahmi parakramah to left, somewhat weak strike, presumably because it was struck on a broad flan, fully legible inscriptions on both sides, choice VF to EF. Samudragupta was the fourth ruler of the Gupta Empire, and the son of Chandragupta I and the Licchavi princess Kumaradevi. His reign lasted for about 45 years, during which he oversaw the conquest and expansion into neighboring territories.
