Fully Transferrable Class III BSA Lewis Mark II Medium Machine Gun
Designed by American Army Colonel Issac Newton Lewis, who retired from the army and founded Armes Automatiques Lewis in Liege, Belgium following multiple attempts to have the gun accepted by the Americans shot down, mostly for political reasons. Though few of Lewis' guns were made in Belgium, licensing the design to Birmingham Small Arms and Savage Arms, both producing on British contract, made him a sizeable profit. Rather large by modern standards, the 28 pound Lewis was downright svelte next to it's contemporaries, most of which would be unimaginable to maneuver or fire with a single operator. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the distinctive air jacket over the large cooling fins, and a clamp-on bipod with "MOUNT FIELD 303/ LEWIS GUN MARK II/ BS&Co Ltd MAKERS/ NOTTINGHAM" on the collar. The top of the receiver is marked "Lewis Auto.Gun/ Mod.1914-Pat." ahead of the rear sight and "Manufactured by/ The Birmingham Small Arms Co Ltd/ ENGLAND/ for/ Armes Automatiques Lewis/ BELGIUM" around the sight, with "RIGHT" and "LEFT" markings on the bolt guide, and small broad arrow proofs. Mechanically unique, the open bolt operation of the gun is driven by a cylindrical spring mounted on the underside ahead of the trigger guard, as opposed to the helical springs used by most other automatic arms. Smooth panels on the pistol grip, with sling mounts on the air jacket and smooth buttstock. NOTE: This is a fully transferable NFA Class III Firearm currently on a Form 4. You are required to check your state and/or local laws as to whether or not you may own this. This weapon can be transferred to a Class III dealer at no charge. Buyer pays all other transfer fees and stamps.
