Blade front and folding leaf rear sights, with an American eagle on the bolster, "1863" on top of the chamber and "V/ P/ eagle head" on the upper left flat. The lock plate is marked "1863" behind the beveled hammer, with the Eagle and Shield motif next to "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD" ahead of the hammer. Smooth straight grip stock, with a tulip head straight shank steel ramrod, 3 screw secured barrel bands, sling swivels, "ELA" and "WTJ" cartouches on the left flat, "208" stamped on the left side of the buttstock and a smooth "US" marked metal buttplate. With a wooden barrel plug.

Condition: Very fine with some mild spotting on the barrel and trigger guard, and a mix of brown patina and original blue on the barrel bands. Strong case colors are present on the lock and hammer, with some light spotting and fading. Stock is also very fine with pressure dents and light scratches. Mechanically excellent.
