Factory Engraved Marlin Model 1889 Lever Action Rifle with Cody Verification
Manufactured from 1889 to 1899 this example of a Model 1889 rifle features a factory engraving. The receiver features a scroll engraving with the sides of the receiver having a scroll border design with the left side having a game scene (a buck) inside a circle. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY". Blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight on a barrel marked with the two line address/patent dates and "38-W". The upper tang has been drilled for a sight mount. The nicely figured pistol grip stock has multi-point checkering on the forearm and grip area and is fitted with a crescent steel buttplate. The included Cody Museum verification record confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel length and pistol grip stock, and that the rifle was shipped on June 29th 1984.

Condition: Good. Overall the rifle has a mixed of dark patina and gray patina with scattered traces of original blue finish remaining on the barrel. The wood is good with some minor dings and scratches along with the buttstock showing signs of having been sanded. There is some wear in the checkering. Action needs work as the lever is frozen.
